Given the rare luxury of a shower in solitude and without interruptions, my brain had the opportunity to ramble freely.
This is when I realized that when I was young I was a very diligent student and now, with the homework load my children bring back daily, I find myself secretly ignoring homework forgotten at school and 'cheating' a little when it comes to what I count as reading.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 29th 2015
Since I discovered 'oil pulling' and diatomaceous earth, the running joke is that my journey to better health now involves gargling with oil and eating dirt.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 28th 2015
There is something about a day that involves walking, biking, studying and steaming both the kitchen and bathroom floors that is immensely satisfying.
That massage is paying for itself in productivity ;)

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 27th 2015
I finally got a much needed hour long massage session! It felt like someone pressed the reset button on me and I wonder why I deny myself this truly therapeutic experience.
In Romania I used to walk over to the hotel near our house and have a massage once a week because it cost $10 an hour and Little Z wasn't my designated sidekick at the time.
When it comes to the chaos and demands that accompany motherhood, a massage is more a necessity than a luxury.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 22nd 2015
I asked Little Z if he wanted to go on a bike ride, to which he immediately replied with a clear, defiant, "No!" His "no" was so well formulated on his full, rounded lips and accented with his deep voice which has always been completely age inappropriate that it hits you with power.
But he was clearly just enjoying using his new favorite word, because as soon as he said it, he jumped off the couch and head to the door. Then somehow he managed to put both his crocs on by himself!
The exercising has definitely brought back my sense of humor. This morning as I piled laundry into the washer, removed bedsheets to be replaced, made breakfast, cleaned up and dressed Little Z, one of the boys started to ask for something and I said "I can't right now because I have to make sure all of this is done so I can go to the parent volunteer celebration at school." Then I smirked internally as cinderalla came to mind...

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 21st 2015
We've been moving to so many different places so much, that I think I've developed commitment issues.
The thought of living in just one country for the rest of my life stirs a fear in me like no other. Perhaps I just haven't found 'the one' yet.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 19th 2015
This long awaited day finally came.
Today, O got to play the national anthem at the start of the Astros Vs Angels baseball game. He walked out onto the field and played his trumpet along with the school band, orchestra and choir.
It was a moment that will remain etched in my memory forever. I was choked and seriously almost burst into tears with joy and pride.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 16th 2015
Yesterday, Little Z got hold of my calendula ointment jar. Within seconds he had dug out big globs and applied them to his beautiful curly hair.
Since then, I've washed his hair 10 times thoroughly with shampoo and it still looks very greasy. On a more positive note, I don't think he's ever been cleaner!

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 15th 2015
The soccer coach decided the scrimmage this afternoon would be shirts & skins. T got to be on the skins team and the incredible excitement that those three little boys had about playing without their T-shirts was highly amusing. I could literally hear them giggling incessantly until the coach set them straight.
Another interesting insight for me into the world of boys.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 11th 2015
Today was exceptionally hectic. One soccer game started at 7:30am and the other ended at 3:30pm. It was also picture day and a very rainy afternoon.
Lots of mud, noise and soggy clothes with a day full of sports. An amazing day for the boys who both played well and won. Not such a thrill for me.
Then hubby went off to return our chemical infested nightmare of a mattress.
By the time he got back I was almost clawing at the walls hoping to escape the deafening prison our home had turned into.
He kindly took them out to dinner giving me time to (finally) shower and just relax on the couch by myself. I realized today that I need time alone. I am so recharged after spending some quality time with myself. Meg Meeker really nailed it when she suggested solitude daily in her book "The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers."

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 10th 2015
In a rare moment, the stars aligned for me. Little Z fell asleep just as his older brothers head out with hubby to their practice. This left me with some time to myself and since a friend had subtly hinted today that I needed to have a little more fun, I filled up that bath and got in a little relaxation time!

Today's latest destruction: Toys transferred into the fireplace
This was followed by various toys and objects thrown into the bathtub.

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 7th 2015
After calling all the close adults in our life "Mama" and using my name to call my sister and his older female cousin, little Z finally gave me a name; a loud, clear and heart warming "Mommy."
That is my official name now :)

Diary of a Confused Mom: April 4th 2015
Had an interesting birthday for sure. A trip to the swamp (which was quite amusing) a visit to a battleship and a long overdue treat to the spa that my sister in law was kind enough to arrange.
To top it off, Little Z finally disclosed what "Api" means and it's adorable - it's my love in Arabic (hob-bi); something I say to him a lot.

Diary of a Confused Mom: March 31st 2015
In all likelihood, once a couple goes beyond three children, a minivan becomes inevitable.
Diary of a Confused Mom: March 30th 2015
If the small cross section of males I interact with daily is anything to go by, I would say boys and pants just don't get along!
Diary of a Confused Mom: March 26th 2015
Little Z is giving is using new words that we just can't figure out the meaning of.
"Api," "Pandis" and "Mama ney." I've tried but I'm at a loss.
